Let's beat the heat by making school cool

Students, especially those in public schools, are obliged to learn in sweltering conditions in many classrooms throughout the state during prolonged hot periods. Of course, grumpy old people will relate stories of how they survived above-century days and nights that lasted for several weeks when they were in uninsulated tin sheds for schools and how they found it character-building and good for the soul. My final three years of school education were at Condobolin before airconditioning was invented and I can vouch that little learning occurred in most summer months.
